Dr. Mark Zuccolo is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist whose areas of professional competence include relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety and stress management, anger management, divorce, emotional and physical trauma and abuse, grief and loss, sexual and gender issues, and men’s issues—integrating the insights of behavioral science with the wisdom of a faith perspective.
Working from a cognitive-behavioral approach, the goal of Dr. Zuccolo’s therapeutic work is to help individuals, couples and families identify and change maladaptive thinking and behavior in order to make more balanced and realistic appraisals of themselves, their world and their future, enjoy more satisfying relationships, and improve their communication and problem-solving skills.
Dr. Zuccolo provides coaching and counseling to individuals struggling with issues such as workaholic syndrome, difficult career choices, personal growth and spiritual development, and balancing family/work concerns. He conducts group and individual anger management skills training and counseling, as well as stress management education and counseling.
In the area of trauma counseling, Dr. Zuccolo is trained in the application of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, which is particularly effective in treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other psychological consequences of adult or childhood trauma and abuse. He is a clinical member of the Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Zuccolo serves as the Director of Clergy and Congregational Care Services. In this capacity, he leads the Summit’s professional cadre of facilitators, consultants, coaches and clinicians in providing coaching and consulting services to clergy persons, ministers, pastors, religious professionals, congregations and their leadership.
Dr. Zuccolo currently serves as the Executive Director of the Georgia Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, a division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Prior to joining The Summit, Dr. Zuccolo practiced at the La Vie Christian Counseling Center, the Pepperdine University Community Counseling Center, and the Assistance League of Southern California. He is a former Fortune 500 executive with over twenty years of management, consulting, and coaching experience.
