Kat Dennis Joins The Summit Counseling Center

katdennisKat Dennis joins Summit as an intern therapist working primarily with individual adults, adolescents, couples, and families. Her therapeutic focus includes a whole person wellness approach – a healthy mind, body, and spirit that is essential to balance and mental health. Collaboratively, Kat provides research-supported, time-limited interpersonal psychotherapy for those navigating life’s challenges including relationships, transitions, and spirituality. She operates from a belief that wellness is a life process. All are on a journey of learning and growing into a uniquely whole and healthy individual – inside and out. This journey includes healing, strengthening, and developing all parts that make us whole.

Before beginning her profession as a counselor, Kat worked corporately in information technology, designing and developing software systems for a variety of industries such as healthcare, telecom, news media, finance, marketing and engineering. After marriage and children, Kat transitioned her career aspirations to her first love: caring for families, marriages, and individuals via non-profit organizations as a certified parenting instructor, advocate for the underserved, and in spiritual and leadership development. Kat loves spending time with her husband and middle-school-aged children. She enjoys outdoor activities and exercise, especially drawing, reading, and writing from her favorite sunny spot on the front porch – the swing.

Kat is a candidate for a masters of arts in professional counseling at Richmont Graduate University and plans to pursue a doctoral program in counseling, immediately following. She previously studied at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, and Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
