Summit Counseling and Dekalb County Schools Partner to Provide School-Based Counseling Services to Students.

Because Healthy Students are Successful Students

As parents, we want what is best for our children, but it is not always easy to know what type of support they need. That is why Summit Counseling has partnered with Dekalb County Schools to offer Summit OnSite, confidential mental health therapy, conveniently located at the school. Students have the option to see their therapist at school during the day or at an offsite location after school hours. This flexibility allows the therapist to quickly intervene, so children get the help they need to achieve their best at school.

Summit OnSite Pilot Program at Dunwoody High School

Through a community collaboration and the generous financial support of Dunwoody United Methodist Church, Summit OnSite will staff their first Dekalb County Schools therapist at Dunwoody High School beginning in January. Summit OnSite provides a professional therapist who specializes in working individually with children and adolescents. Each Summit OnSite therapist is trained, licensed, and experienced to provide social, emotional, behavioral and mental health counseling support.

Common Issues Addressed

Mental health therapy helps students better understand their personal needs and learn new skills to manage life situations or relationships more effectively. Each therapist will help students develop treatment goals and provide the appropriate support and guidance. They will work together to help students with:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Bullying
  • Divorce
  • Self-Image
  • Substance Use
  • Eating Disorders
  • Family Issues
  • Grief, Trauma & Loss
  • Peer Relationships
  • Self-Harm
