For over two decades, the Summit Counseling Center has been providing counseling services to north metro Atlanta communities. Through individual and group therapy, the Summit provides hope and healing to individuals, couples and families experiencing adverse life circumstances and mental health issues. In fiscal year 2014-15, our therapists provided support through over 9,000 clinical hours. Over forty-percent of those visits had a portion of the fee subsidized with over $248,000 in reduced fees provided to individuals and families within our community. The Summit is honored to partner with many schools, non-profits and businesses to provide hope and healing to our communities.
The Impact of Mental Illness
- Approximately 20% of youth, ages 13 to 18 experience severe mental disorders in a given year. For ages 8 to 15, the estimate is 13%.
- Mood disorders, such as depression are the third most common cause of hospitalization for both youth and adults ages 18 to 44.
- Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the U.S. (more common than homicide) and the third leading cause of death for ages 15 to 24-years. More than 90% of those who die by suicide had one or more mental disorders.
According to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), 61.5 million Americans experience a mental condition every year, that’s one in four adults and one in ten children. Our communities in north metro Atlanta are not immune from these staggering statistics. People of every race, age, religion, or economic status are affected. Whether you are aware of it or not, we all know someone who is living with some form of mental illness.
All proceeds from this event will go towards furthering the mission of the Summit and supporting our Client Assistance Fund.

Partners in Caring
The Summit is deeply appreciative of our Partners in Caring; non-profit organizations that allow us to act as extensions of their own mission and support us through an ongoing referral relationship.
Our formal Partners in Caring have created unique relationships with The Summit that benefit their staff and members of their organization as well as the men, women and children that they serve.
