Exciting updates from this powerful FCS trio! We had the honor of hearing from the Superintendent, Board President, and Vice President of Fulton County Schools at the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Chamber Luncheon Series. Together, they delved into crucial topics such as Balanced Scorecard, Strategic Planning, Safety & Security, and Local Partnerships. At Summit, we’re continually thankful for our proud partnership with Fulton County Schools, enabling us to provide school-based therapy at 28 schools in Fulton County. Together, we’re making a positive impact on student well-being and shaping brighter futures!
We had such an incredible time at the Braves game! A big thank you to Kyle and Shelby Wright and the Braves Foundation for hosting our staff. We’re so grateful for their support of The Summit and their dedication to mental health during Mental Health Awareness Month. Together, let’s swing for the fences in raising awareness and fostering mental wellness in our community!
Thank you to all who attended in-person and virtually to our North Fulton Mental Health Collaborative! The United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Northeast Regional Director, Denise Townsend, presented findings on the 2023 Child Well-Being Index – a set of 14 measures to use as a tool to help regions assess how children, families, and communities are doing in order to drive transformative results for the next generation. Afterward, participants broke into groups to discuss and share their priorities related to the mental wellness of our community. Thank you, United Way of Greater Atlanta!
Our monthly North Fulton Mental Health Collaborative meeting featured a rich discussion from our panelists on substance misuse and how we can all play a part in prevention! The Summit has been very proud to partner with North Point Community Church and Be Rich! Be Rich is North Point’s annual giving campaign (“Be rich in good deeds,” based on 1 Timothy 6:18) where their congregation learns about community ministries and nonprofits and has an opportunity to provide contributions, serve as volunteers, and express their love and support for their missions. Summit staff showed up for Be Rich Sunday as North Point highlighted our mission!
With teen mental health concerns steadily rising, parents and adults working with teens need tools to navigate this important topic! Summit therapist Jason Howard presented at Stonecreek Church with his workshop equipping volunteers and parents of children, adolescents, and teens in the church with ideas and tools on how to navigate anxiety and depression. Jason aimed to speak with parents about when to get a counselor or other professional involved, and the different types of options that are available to help (i.e., play therapy, school-based therapy, groups, etc.).
Finally, we wrapped up the month of September with the North Fulton Mental Health Collaborative meeting. Hosted by Summit Counseling Center, our expert panel discussed Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month and how we can all do our part to prevent suicide and bring hope to our community.

In the first of many workshops at NFCC, Nehemiah taught new skills and coping strategies for managing stress and anxiety when preparing for important events.
Just one day later, Summit Director of Community Outreach Cathy Murphy attended the grand opening of The Recovery Village Atlanta, a full continuum of care treatment facility in the suburbs of Roswell. The 31,000-square-foot facility treats adults who are struggling with addiction, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health issues. As a physician-led company, TRV provides quality service at every level of care, supporting their clients at every step of their recovery journey. We are so grateful for this valuable resource in our community!
On September 20th, the Summit was spotted at the GNFCC Chairman’s Circle Fireside Chat. Dr. Looney, the Fulton County Schools Superintendent, shared some updates from the District, including outgoing and incoming FCS Board Members, redistricting, K-8 schools, and school safety. Pictured above, Dr. Looney donned green Converse high tops, in honor of Uvalde victim Maite Rodriguez and a constant reminder of the priority placed on the safety of FCS students.
The 2022 Christopher Carlton Memorial Golf Tournament was an amazing way to start the week! It was a beautiful day for golf hosted by the United Methodist Men of Johns Creek UMC and benefitting The Summit Counseling Center. Funds raised at this event benefit our Summit OnSite program bringing therapy services to students at their school, during their school day. Thank you, Johns Creek UMC!
First, the Summit was thrilled to represent at the Fulton County Septemberfest on September 28th! An inclusive event for District 2 residents to access free COVID-19 vaccines, behavioral health services, Fulton County programs, services, and other community-based organizations, Septemberfest was a blast with live music, wellness resources, great food, and family fun.
Keep an eye out for our green table at future events in your community!
