The Summit Counseling Center Receives Accreditation

Nationally Accredited by Solihten InstituteThe Summit Counseling Center has been awarded Full Accreditation for April 2021 to April 2025. The Solihten Institute, located in Denver, Colorado, announced today.

“Accreditation is a major accomplishment and demonstrates a Center’s commitment to excellence,” according to Robert Johnson, LCSW President/CEO for the Solihten Institute, which is the headquarters for a national network of Solihten Centers. “The accreditation process indicates that Centers offer professional services within a framework of quality organizational, administrative, and financial practices,” Johnson said.

The Summit Counseling Center was established in 1999 by an independent board representing a cross-section of the community and is supported by 18 congregations and partnerships with other non-profits, local school districts, government entities, and private foundations that can be found on the website at summitcounseling.org/about-us/community-partners.

The Summit provides a wide range of outpatient counseling services, including counseling for individuals, couples, and families; educational programs; and consultation for professionals and organizations.

The Solihten Ministry advocates the concept of interfaith, team-oriented, and cost­ efficient counseling, emphasizing the inter-relatedness of mind, body, spirit, and community.

The Summit’s Executive Director is Rev. David M. Smith, LPC, CPCS. Joining Rev. Smith on the leadership team are Dr. Mollie Innocent-Cupid, Director of Operations; Dr. Nathan Butzen, Director of Clinical Services; Cathy Murphy, Director of Community Outreach; Rachel Newcomer, Director of Development; and Suzanne Denton, Financial Controller. The Organization is governed by a Board of Directors that can be found on the website at summitcounseling.org/about-us/our-board. The Summit currently has a staff of 30 Clinicians, each clinician’s biography, education and clinical license information can be found on the website at summitcounseling.org/find-a-counselor.

To assure accessibility to community residents, counseling services are offered at 5 community locations and 28 school locations that can be found on the website at summitcounseling.org/locations.
