Behavioral addictions such as gaming, sex, pornography, and social media affect a substantial number of individuals, yet many professionals have not received formal training on how to recognize and respond to addictive behaviors. In this workshop, attendees will learn about the signs and criteria of behavioral addictions, how addictive behaviors affect the brain, useful assessment instruments and treatment considerations, and prevention efforts to combat behavioral addictions. The workshop will provide a model for understanding behavioral addictions and focus specifically on gaming addiction, social media addiction, and cybersex addiction.
