“Courage begins when you show up and let yourself be seen.” -Brené Brown
Heather believes each person’s deepest desire is to be seen and known. Sometimes therapy is the first safe space to try this out.
In therapy, Heather meets Teens (aged 12+), Adults (aged 18-70), Couples, and Families where they are in hopes to come alongside them and understand them holistically. She utilizes a Humanistic and Attachment-based approach to create a non-judgmental space, and to understand each person within their unique relational and systemic contexts. Heather hopes to see clients come to know themselves better, find hope and healing within their stories, and to encourage them to live within their values.
Heather has primarily worked with clients navigating difficult life stage transitions, family strife, relationship problems, grief and loss, forgiveness and reconciliation, identity and self-esteem building, caregiver stress, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, spirituality, substance and process addictions, and other problem behaviors.
Heather is working towards her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Richmont Graduate University. She went to the University of Georgia for her Bachelor of Arts in Advertising. Prior to joining The Summit, she worked in advertising sales, and volunteered with Young Life and church youth ministries.
Heather enjoys spending time with her husband and their huge Great Pyrenees puppy. She loves spending quality time with friends and family, weightlifting in the gym, studying the Bible, and traveling.
Heather Wheeler is under the directed experience and clinical supervision of Alice Hoag, Ed.D. LPC, CPCS, BCPCC and Janet Fluker, M.Ed., M.S. LPC, CPCS.
