Carleen Newsome’s Blog

Carleen Newsome is a licensed professional counselor who works primarily with couples, adults, and adolescents and their families. Her areas of concentration and competence include relationship issues, life transitions, grief and loss, trauma, adolescent life skills and health and wellness coaching.

Ms. Newsome takes a holistic view of therapy. She works with the mental, physical and spiritual needs of each client in a collaborative client/counselor team approach. She feels it is her job to furnish clients with the tools and support necessary to achieve their individual goals while minimizing the barriers to success. Her methods are based on the optimistic assumption that people can enhance their lives once they recognize their own abilities and identify their strengths.

Before beginning her profession as a licensed professional counselor, Ms. Newsome spent over a decade working to design and implement health and wellness programs in many major corporations in Southern California including Hughes Aircraft, Data General, Oracle, Trammell Crow, and Chiat/Day. She also worked as a weight loss counselor and coach with the patients of several Los Angeles physicians.

Ms. Newsome is an avid runner and has completed several marathons including Napa, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Disney. She has three college age children and has been happily married for 23 years.
