About Allison Bates

Allison is a Licensed Professional Counselor who enjoys working with kids and adolescents, as well as adults struggling with life’s many hurdles. She works with many children who are dealing with family changes due to divorce or ongoing conflicts, struggling with anxiety, behavioral concerns, and depressive symptoms. She also enjoys facilitating parent support sessions and family therapy to process difficult conversation topics and communication concerns. She has obtained trainings in Sandtray Therapy, Art Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and is working on obtaining her Registered Play Therapy license utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy and Child-Centered Play Therapy.

In her personal life, Allison enjoys the outdoors, reading, watching movies and crime documentaries. Allison loves traveling and exploring new places, but also enjoys an afternoon snuggled up with her cat and drinking tea.

Allison was an elementary school teacher for 6 years before getting her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lubbock Christian University. As a teacher, she unfortunately saw many of her students’ social/emotional wellbeing overlooked due to lack of resources and support, and felt a calling to serve children on a more personal level. Allison has a passion for working with children utilizing art therapy and sand tray therapy, giving them a safe place to express themselves and process difficult emotions.
