“When we deny our stories, they define us. When we own our stories, we get to write the ending.” -Brene Brown
Jessica’s job is to help clients acknowledge, experience, and bear the reality of life-with all its joys and challenges. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process, a mutual exploration of self. She strives to create an environment where clients feel safe to be their authentic selves without fear of judgement or vulnerability. Initially, Jessica begins every therapeutic relationship by coming alongside them and ensuring that they collaborate on the client’s goals. Based on the therapy goals and needs, Jessica integrates a person-centered approach with Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques tailored to the needs of the client. Together they will work to restore hope and regain imagination to envision a better future. She helps her clients find ways to feel fully alive in the present and engaged with the people around them.
Jessica graduated from Samford University with her undergraduate degree in Business Administration. From there, she went to work for Georgia-Pacific for a few years before she decided to become a counselor. Jessica’s experience in collegiate athletics and the subsequent identity challenges she faced after college is part of what led her to pursue becoming a therapist. In 2023, she received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University. Jessica completed her clinical internship at Atlanta Mission and the Hope Counseling Center, where she provided individual, couple, and group counseling to adults of all ages. Prior to joining The Summit’s team, she worked for the LifeGate Group where she provided individual counseling to adolescents and adults. Jessica also worked for PAWKids, a non-profit community organization that serves individuals in the Grove Park community; where she led clinical groups for kids K-12th grade. Jessica has gained experience working with individuals experiencing gender identity, depression, anxiety, suicidality, grief, and trauma. She has a strong passion for working with adolescents and young adults; helping them navigate the challenges they may be facing.
Beyond her work as a therapist, Jessica loves adventure and staying active! You’ll often find her exploring hiking trails, enjoying a game of pickleball or tennis, or simply relaxing in a park with her soon-to-be-husband. She also treasures quality time with family and friends sharing a yummy meal or a competitive game night!
