Staff Intern Therapist

“It was when I stopped searching for home within others and lifted the foundations of home within myself, I found there were no roots more intimate than those between a mind and body that have decided to be whole.” -Rupi Kaur

Alyssa has a desire to help support individuals, couples, and families through the healing work of counseling. She is passionate about providing holistic and evidence-based therapy to individuals that focus on the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. Alyssa views individuals through a lens of their personal neuroscience and their social context to capture a picture of the person as a whole. She believes that by providing a positive and intentional presence to an individual, there can be healing. Her therapeutic approach involves utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Narrative Therapy in the pursuit of focusing on a holistic approach to health that elevates, heals, and restores the individual’s story.

Alyssa received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Georgia. She currently attends Richmont Graduate University in pursuit of her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Prior to beginning graduate school, Alyssa worked for the Clinical Affective Neuroscience (CAN) lab at the University of Georgia that researched schizophrenia. In addition to psychology-specific roles, she also was involved in a campus ministry where she served overseas in South Asia.

Alyssa is a Georgia native and an avid UGA fan. She is passionate about people, finding new places to travel to, and regularly finding ways to play. She also has a love for film, books, and tv. In her personal time, Alyssa enjoys being outside on long walks or hikes, visiting local coffee shops with friends, attempting new recipes, and being with family.
