About Jennifer Acker

Jennifer believes that every person can transform their life and bring about new connections to themselves and others. When working with Jennifer, you will have an empathic, compassionate, and non-judgmental experience. Jennifer grounds her therapy in Family Systems and Psychodynamic theories. She is well-versed in many evidence-based practices and trauma-informed interventions and caters these interventions to the client’s needs. Jennifer views humans through a holistic lens incorporating body-based interventions, creative expression interventions, and many others. When working with Jennifer, you will identify the “red thread” that connects your past experiences and beliefs about yourself and the world, to your present successes and struggles, and learn skills, all while increasing your awareness to redefine your future. You will learn practical tools to help you manage difficult emotions and have difficult conversations. Jennifer believes that education and awareness are key to growth.

In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and two dogs. Together they enjoy spending time in nature whether that is camping, going to local parks, or bonfires in the backyard. Jennifer loves sports, especially soccer, and has been known to be a bit competitive. She also has strong spiritual ties to Jesus and her Native American ancestry.

Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia as well as a Certified Master Addiction Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor. She received her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Richmont Graduate University and her Bachelor of Arts from Waldorf College where she majored in Psychology and minored in Religion and Wellness. Before working as a therapist at the Summit Counseling Center, Jennifer worked as a therapist and in leadership at several Metro Atlanta Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment programs for adults and adolescents.
