Some specialties include parenting & behavioral concerns; addiction and relationship & intimacy issues; trauma, abuse and grief; anger and emotional management; ADHD; and depression/anxiety issues. Raul focuses on your strengths to find strategies for growth and success. In therapy you will recognize how your thought patterns affect emotions and actions in both positive and negative ways.
Therapy can also be a way to resolve your personal issues without judgement and criticism. Raul views therapy as a way to facilitate change but ultimately change comes from within you. When Rick is not providing counseling, he usually spends a great del of his time in the outdoors, hiking, biking and some water sports. He has 2 dogs which he often takes to the park of a walk, and enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Raul (Rick) received his Master's in Social Work from the California State University, Sacramento. He went to the California State University, Dominguez Hills where he attained his Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology. Rick is new to Summit Counseling. He has a wide range of experience in working with youth and adults. Rick has been involved with many mental health and substance abuse concerns such as depression, anxiety, addiction and trauma. Rick has previously provided counselor services for students as part of a mental health team that provided home-based services. He has previous experience in residential treatment, and working as a counselor in various psychiatric hospitals. Rick provided counseling for youth while working in a shelter and was trained in conducting forensic interviews.
